The workshop is offered free of charge and pre-registration is not required.ĭirections: On US 50 in Cambridge, turn at the traffic light at Crusader Road (Wawa food/gas mart) to Washington St. This workshop will take approximately one hour and HPL crew will be available at the demonstration to work with those who want to book systems this summer. Larvae is provided free of charge to those using the project systems as well as individual instruction in setting and assessment procedures at each site. Growers are responsible for providing the contained cultch (usually aged, clean oyster shell) and the labor for setting and cleaning the systems. These can be reserved in two-week blocks from June through August. This is one of seven systems that have been provided throughout the Bay area for growers to use as part of the RST project. This demonstration will show the equipment needed and procedures for the setting process as well as determining setting success rates. Remote Setting provides a way for growers to cost-effectively produce seed for planting leases. These have been funded by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources and NOAA through Crab Industry Disaster Funds. This statewide workshop is open to all and is a cooperative program of the Oyster Aquaculture Education & Training Program and the Oyster Recovery Partnership’s Remote Setting Training (RST) Program.
